Let's Build a Networking Text

As a university professor, I am always looking for text and other resources that will help convey the essence of a course in a way that will truly resonate with students. With my teaching interest being largely associated with networking, I find myself regularly teaching networking classes and struggling to find the very best content for the way in which I want to teach networking.

To tackle this issue, I have started working on my own text. The goal is to produce a text that is appropriate for an undergraduate and graduate level networking class. So, it is not to be overly technical but rather, it is to have a business orientation. It is to stress design, management, and security first as each of these areas are usually treated as an afterthought in most texts.

I want this text to be practical and applied, dealing less about what can or should be and more on what is likely to be. With all of that in mind, I have started on such a text and I am asking for help. Below is a link to a Google Doc. Take a look at what I have so far. What should I include. Remember, this is to be a university text. This means roughly 12 chapters. It must address design, management, and security. It should be based on the Internet model as opposed to the OSI model. It should also be quite detailed when it comes to wireless. So, make your recommendations. Be part of this text. Make a substantive contribution and be included in the text. The completed text will be available free of change as either a PDF or as a Google Doc. Let me know what you think.
